NFL Preview: NFC West (because it’s never too late)

Posted by Splash Gordon at 13th September, 2009

Arizona Cardinals

This team got hot at just the right time last year and found themselves in the Super Bowl, battling against the Steelers when the clock struck midnight.  This offense should still be pretty good, although I think they’ll miss the discipline that Todd Haley brought to the table (read: Todd Haley is an asshole, but got the players to produce).  Anquan Boldin (although nursing a hammy), Larry Fitzgerald, and Steve Breaston are all back and ready to go in 2009.  While I wasn’t high on Chris “Beanie” Wells coming out of THE Ohio State University, he looked pretty good in preseason.  We’ll see what happens with him this year.  Passing D is what it is, and it isn’t much.  Still have some nice playmakers in the front seven.

Adrian “All Day” Peterson = MURDERER

Ruthless, despicable, vicious, inhumane, violent, cruel, and merciless.  Purple Jesus is no saint, if not the Saint of Slaughter.

The Mike Vick Experience v 2.0

Posted by Craig the Insider at 21st August, 2009

It’s like a bad bug bite…once it occurs, you have the initial irritation of the bite, but slowly over time it begins to just hang around and itch, and continues to irritate long after the initial event occurred.  The Michael Vick saga is in a ways a lot like that to me: a bug bite on the sports map that despite its occurrence almost 2 years ago, it still manages to stay around in the media and itch and bug the piss out of me.

NFL, Arrests, and Justice

Posted by Factorback at 21st August, 2009

Plaxico Burress, Donte Stallworth, and Michael Vick. These three have all had a run in with the law.  Yet, justice seems to have worked oddly for them.  This has me sitting here wondering, who got off way to easy, and who got the raw deal?  Let’s first recap what happened to each of them:

NFL Preview: NFC South Six-Pack

Posted by Splash Gordon at 16th August, 2009

Atlanta Falcons

  1. The biggest story in Atlanta was that Matt Ryan was able to help the Falcons win 11 games.  He was able to silence some of his critics by throwing for almost 3,500 yards and 16 touchdowns.  I was one of those critics, who felt that although Ryan was a pretty good college QB, he was overrated.  Looking back at his stats, Ryan struggled a bit over his last seven games (throwing six interceptions to just five touchdowns).  He was also assisted by a pretty good defense and a strong running game.  I don’t see Matty Ice being significantly better this year.

Chicago Bears

  1. Jay Cutler wearing familiar colors in Chicago revolutionizes the Bears. He might be the best thing that has happened to the franchise in quite some time.

NFL Preview: NFC East Six-Pack

Dallas Cowboys

  1. The passing game is still in good hands, given that the offense really revolves around TE Jason Witten.
