Before we start I would like to say RIP to Michael Jackson. He is the king of Pop and one of very few extremely talented Musicians/Performers. He will be missed greatly.
We have looked through the offense and defense and gotten a pretty good idea of what the team will look like, personel-wise, next season. Here are five impact players on the offense and the defense that will make many plays, in no particular order.
Offense
- Jacory Harris – This goes without saying. He is the leader of this team and will be making plenty of plays on the field. I have already said it, but I believe after a year working exclusively with these backs and receivers, Harris will be a Heisman candidate in 2010.
- Jason Fox – He will be protecting Jacory’s back and opening plenty of running lanes. He is NFL ready and should unquestionably fire up this offensive line.
- Graig Cooper – He has open field speed, he can burst through the gaps, and he has decent hands. Look for Mark Whipple to utilize him a lot as a threat all over the field.
- Dedrick Epps – He is a monster tight end. I honestly think Miami moves the ball with more ease and probably wins against Cal last December if he was playing. He will be unstoppable if his rehab stays on schedule.
- Aldarius Johnson – He has all the timing down with Jacory Harris, he can catch anything thrown his way. He will lead the team in receptions (but probably not receiving yards, that goes to LaRon Byrd stretching the field) and make all the timely catches.
Defense
- Allen Bailey – He’s called “The Freak,” he has NFL measureables and keeps growing. He will be a stabilizer in the trenches, not allowing teams to run up the middle.
- Sean Spence – He is the smartest player on the field. He will know where the be to make the plays and that will help him dominate. He should be the captain of the defense.
- Brandon Harris – He will be the lockdown corner everyone expects him to be. He will have some interceptions to go along with the blanket he puts over receivers. This kid is special.
- Vaughn Telemaque – The best natural safety on the team, in my opinion. Look for him to make game changing plays all over the field. I won’t be surprised if he is an all conference selection.
- Marcus Robinson – A natural speed rusher. He will come in on third and long and get to the quarterback, he won’t play extended minutes because it hurts his abilities (as a speed rusher) but when he does, he will make plays. He should have 8 sacks by the end of the year (he had 5 in about 3 games last year).
