More thoughts from the weekend’s festivities. I didn’t get a chance to get out to LandShark Stadium for Canesfest, but from what I heard, it was a great event. This event pretty much culminates a summer filled with the Canes doing more than just playing football. Over the summer, members of the football team have been very involved in the community. UM has hosted several youth camps, where players can interact with youngsters from south florida. This weekend, Canes fans could come to LandShark stadium to hang out with the team, tour the locker room, and of course, buy their season tickets. It was a free for all where anybody could come (for free) and meet their favorite players and get autographs, and things like that. Players were even sitting in the dunk tank as part of the festivities.

For this segment of Album of the Week we’re brushing the dust off of an underground classic here with Cannibal Ox’s The Cold Vein (2001). For those that don’t follow the underground scene, Cannibal Ox is a rap duo hailing from Harlem, New York, consisting of Vast Aire and Vordul Mega. Unfortunately, this is the only full-length studio album from the group, and the solo careers for each were not nearly as potent; however, lightning was definitely trapped in a bottle in this effort.

To start off our Thursday Theater segment, I thought we would take a look at a classic that pretty much was the catalyst of a long line of comedy films in this decade; Anchorman.

As NFL camp is on the horizon (football is almost here!!!), there are plenty of stories around the league worth noting. Two more interesting events happening are surrounding two quarterbacks, with great talent, going in opposite directions. One is on his way out. The other is trying to make his way back in. If you haven’t guessed by now, we’re talking about Brett Favre and Michael Vick. Two quarterbacks that were at one point both icons in the league for the skill sets they brought to the game. Now they find themselves making headlines for the wrong reasons (Vick obviously moreso than Favre). The common question around those two is, should either play in the NFL this season?

This segment of the website is devoted to giving you some quick thoughts about the music I’ve been listening to lately. Right now, I have been into a lot of hip hop so if you’re into that, you’ll enjoy this segment. First up, Outkast’s sophomore effort ATLiens.

Sitting in this dead period of the sports world (not even Baseball has heated up for the playoffs) I find myself constantly sifting through NBA material looking for any hinkering of a rumor about a big deal that’s about to happen. The latest on that front appears to be two potential moves, both involving the Miami Heat. As a Miami native and a loyal Heat fan, I can’t help but want to talk about it. Here’s the potential moves:
